The practice runs a computerised repeat prescribing service. If you are on regular medication you will be given a computer slip with the drugs you take printed on it. When you need more medication, tick against the items you require and either post the slip to us or place it in the box outside the dispensary.

We do not take requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone as mistakes can all too easily happen. Of course if you do have problems we are always happy to help if we can.

It currently takes 3 working days (72 hours) to process repeat prescriptions so do take care not to run out of medication. For those who have difficulty getting to the surgery we have various ways to get your medication to a collection point near to you. Please ask the dispenser who will advise you.

The Dispensers are still incredibly busy, please can we remind patients there is a 3 working day turnaround for prescriptions which does not include weekends and bank holidays.

We would also like to thank patients for their patience and observing the social distancing rules whilst waiting in the queue.

Opening Hours 

• Monday to Friday 08:30 - 13:00 & 14:00 - 18:00
• Saturday 09:00 - 12:00 - From January 2023 DISPENSARY OPEN EVERY OTHER Saturday ONLY!

Please note dispensary is closed between 13:00 and 14:00 Monday to Friday and only take calls from 10:00 until 13:00 and from 14:00 until 18:00.

Delivery Service

Please note under current circumstances we are unable to do any extra deliveries. 

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

• those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
• those who are age exempt
• those with certain medical conditions

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

• Prescription (per item): £9.65
• 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
• 3-month PPC: £31.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

There are a number of ways that you can help to reduce the issue of wasted medicines and save money for your local NHS.

Only order the medicines that you need

• Please let your GP or Pharmacist know if you’ve stopped taking any of your medicines
• Check what medicines you still have at home before re-ordering
• Discuss your medication with your GP or Pharmacist on a regular basis
• Think carefully before ticking all the boxes on your repeat prescription forms and only tick those you really need
• If you don’t need the medicine please don’t order it! If you need the medicine in the future you can still request it.
• If you need to go into hospital, please remember to take all your medicines with you in a clearly marked bag.
• Please also remember that your medicines are prescribed only for you; it’s not safe to share them with anyone else.

Remember that unused medicines cannot be recycled

• Even if you never open them, once medicines have left the Pharmacy, they cannot be recycled or used by anyone else.
• Please bring your unused medicines to the Pharmacy for safe disposal.
• NEVER dispose of your unused or unwanted medicines down the toilet

Unused medicines are a safety risk

• Return out of date medicines to your pharmacy or dispensary for safe disposal
• If your medicines change - return your old medicines to the pharmacy for safe disposal to avoid mixing them up with your new medicines
• Don't stockpile medication - it is a safety risk for children and others who might take them
• Store medicines in an appropriate place out of reach of children
