Covid19 Advice for Parents

In line with national guidance, antibody testing (to see if you have had Coronavirus) is being rolled out in Suffolk and North East Essex in a safe and phased way. It has begun within our hospitals.  We will keep you updated as to when this test is available to wider staff and patient groups.  Meanwhile, please may we request that you do not ask your GP about availability.  This will help us to help you with all other urgent calls.  We will make an announcement as soon as we can.  Please also note that as this is a new disease we don’t yet know if having antibodies means you are immune.

19 MAY - BILDESTON HEALTH CENTRE - UPDATE

We thought it was time for an update on how things are working at Bildeston Health Centre during these challenging times, to try to alleviate any worries or concerns you have.

Our Clinical team are here to help you. We are still operating a total telephone triage service, so you may be asked for a brief description of your problem by our reception team.  If your Clinician feels you need to be seen face to face you will be given an appointment time. Please do not arrive early as we are staggering patients and you may be asked to wait in your car or outside. We are doing this to avoid people waiting in groups in the waiting room and to adhere to social distancing guidelines. We are also able to offer video consultations.

You may struggle to get through by phone at busy times – especially Monday Mornings! Please note Dispensary only take calls from 10am until 1pm and again from 2pm until 6pm, Monday to Friday so  unless you have an urgent medication request, please be kind enough to call and press Option 2 for Dispensary after 10am - Thank You.

We politely ask you if you could wear a facemask or face covering when coming in for face to face appointments.

Our Dispensary team are still working extremely hard. We are operating a one-in/one-out system. We are now asking for 3 working days’ notice for repeat prescriptions - as our Dispensary is small we can only allow 2 staff members in at one time so this slows things down.

Our volunteer medication delivery service has now finished.  Any problems, please contact Dispensary for advice.

We thank you all for your patience and co-operation – Stay safe!

Travel Vaccinationsglobal air travel

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below

Europe Europe & Russia North America North America
Central America Central America South America South America
Caribbean Caribbean Africa Africa
Middle East Middle East Central Asia Central Asia
East Asia East Asia Australasia Australasia and Pacific

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
